Who Inspires Me? The Version of Myself I Haven’t Met Yet.

When I first came across the question, “Name someone who inspires you,” I hesitated.
Not because I couldn’t think of inspiring people. After all, the world is full of them. It’s more so because none of them felt like the right answer.
I admire many individuals for their strength, creativity, and purpose. But when I think about what truly drives me forward, the person who inspires me most isn’t someone I know or someone famous.
It’s my future self.
Now, that might sound unconventional, maybe even a tad self-focused. However, to me, it’s the most authentic answer.
My future self is the version of me who has already navigated the challenges I’m working through now. She’s the one who stayed consistent when it was easier to give up, who learned how to rest without guilt, and who found balance between ambition and peace.
“She’s confident and grounded, not because life got easier, but because she kept showing up for herself.”
When I imagine her, I don’t see perfection. I see growth. I see a woman who has made mistakes, learned from them, and evolved. She is proof that transformation is possible when we commit to the process.
That image of my future self keeps me accountable. It reminds me that the choices I make today, how I spend my time, how I treat others, and how I speak to myself, are shaping who I will become.
Every small decision is a step toward meeting her.
So, when doubt creeps in or when I feel stuck, I think of her: calm, capable, and patient, and remind myself that she’s waiting for me on the other side of effort and persistence.
Because inspiration doesn’t always have to come from looking outward. Sometimes it comes from looking forward to the person we’re still becoming.
“Maybe the real goal isn’t to be someone else’s hero. Maybe it’s to become the person our younger self once needed, and our future self will be proud of.”
And perhaps that’s the quiet challenge for all of us: to keep moving toward the version of ourselves we haven’t met yet, trusting that every step, no matter how small, is part of the journey to becoming her.

This piece is so powerful! This right here really resonates with me, "Because inspiration doesn’t always have to come from looking outward. Sometimes it comes from looking forward to the person we’re still becoming."
